How Implant Supported Dentures Work
Implant supported dentures are designed to rely on a set of dental implants that attach to the base of custom dentures. These dentures provide more of a secure fit than traditional dentures. We proudly offer our patients a ball-retained denture option and the Locator Overdenture Implant System. Both types of implant supported denture help our patients keep a secure fit with their dentures so they no longer need messy denture pastes or creams.
The Locator Overdenture Implant System
The Locator Overdenture Implant (LODI) system is ideal for patients who have lost all or most of their teeth and who may have severe bone loss in the jaw. Typically, patients with severe bone loss would require bone grafting procedures to ensure there was enough bone for hte implant to integrate with. With the LODI system, patients can skip these additional surgeries and have their implant supported denture placed immediately. The LODI system is less invasive, is more predictable and is a more durable dental implant option.
There are no issues with slipping when dental implants are connected to the base of dentures with a ball-and-socket mechanism. This option provides a very secure fit, providing confidence to the wearer when eating and speaking.
